I had a Magnolia slab table that I was building. Originally I was using a urethane finish. There was some type of oil in the wood and every time I put the urethane on would leave large voids in the finish. I tried using pre-stain, tried burning the wood, I even took my router and cut 1/8 inch off of the entire surface and every time it came back. Please see the attached pictures. Once I used the Black Forest finish, it was perfect. The finish is beautiful and very simple to use, It takes way less than you think. I highly recommend using an orbital sander. I purchased a DEWALT battery operated palm sander for this and will only use it for finishing with the Black Forest finish. I also used the ceramic coating and the table slab speaks for itself. Thank you for the wonderful product and I am sold on this finish for all of my projects. Maybe I can post a few videos and really show another view from a Happy Consumer that these products are the real deal. Thank you again.
Great outcome with these products. Highly recommend.
Zero stars…This company’s product didn’t perform as advertised despite confirming it was applied properly. After speaking to three people including one owner of the company it’s clear they don’t stand behind their product and customer experience is non-existent. Avoid this company and their products.
A project nearly complete is the refinishing of a three leaf walnut table made around 1880. It had been refinished about 30 years ago with a polyurethane finish. The goal here was to bring out the natural appearance of the wood and provide a hard top coat. The entire table had to be done and the base had numerous carvings that required much handwork. The usual workup was done taking the table top to 320 grit, however, after the first coat of Black Forest oil the top was too light for the client. After a few days to cure a coat of Old Masters gel American walnut stain was applied after a quick 800 grit sanding off the top. The stain darkened the surface just a bit and two addition coats of Black Forest completed the refinishing. The table is in the cure phase now and Diamond ceramic coating will complete the project in a few weeks. I wasn’t sure how the stain was going to work on top of one coat of Black Forest oil so the underside of one of the leafs served as the test. No issues with the application of additional coats of a Black Forest.
Works great but it’s tiny
