In this hands on workshop, you will learn the techniques for turning the end grain box. We will cover design, turning and chucking methods and finish. We will pursue and tame the suction fitting lid and you will achieve that satisfying “pop” of the suction fitted lid coming off the box. Almost 20 years ago, I was fortunate to learn the end grain box methods from the woodturner who developed them, the Australian Richard Raffan. You are advised to bring your tools so that we can assist you on how to use them for making end grain boxes. Tools are available for you to use if needed. Wood is supplied along with a summary handout of the steps. Note: This is not a workshop for the first time turner. If you are a beginner or first time turner you are advised to take the Fundamentals of Woodturning and practice making some turned items before attending this workshop.
