Laguna 1412 Bandsaw

Before I purchased this saw I viewed the assembly and setup videos which I found quite helpful once picking the saw up.
My initial thoughts are overall good apart from what seems to be an issue some folks are finding in regards to the table being uneven at the split which I found was caused by not tightening down the table split lock handle
prior to tightening the two table tilt trunnion handles. When tightening the trunnion handles I found you need to have different tension amounts on each to maintain level. It is a bit of a pain getting used to playing around with these adjustments every time you tilt the table or change a blade.
Next as many others have identified adjusting the lower guides can be tricky but again after doing it few times you find what works best.
The dust collection system although praised by many I find not so good and will likely modify the system to work better.
Lastly one thing the videos didn't elude to and that I found the most frustrating was getting the fence dialled in in order to get straight consistent cut thicknesses. Not mentioned in the video or the manual are the 2 grub screws in the
casting which allow the fence in the re-saw position to be adjusted to the 90 degree because it's no where close out of the box. Once you extend the upper or lower grub screw to attain square the next problem is that now becomes a pivot point for the 2 fence T bolts so you need to tighten back and forth carefully to maintain square to the blade (drift adjustment) Firstly they should have been 2 grub skews at either end of the casting in order to make the angle adjustment without messing it up the drift angle when tightening the fence knobs. Also nylon tipped grip screws would have been appreciated so as to not leave gouges in the aluminum fence as I now have! All that said I am happy with my purchase especially compared to what seems it's closest rival the Rikon 10-326 that now having gone back to the local Rikon dealer and relooked at it I found it to be quite poor quality in comparison.

I Called Blackforest after seeing this saw on there website to verify they had it in stock, they gave me quick numbers to there inventory as well as asking me my desired uses for the tool and went over all the options of saws they had in stock. I thought over my options and went with the 14/12 as my first choice. I order it over the internet and set up a pick up instead of delivery. When I went to there shop a few days later they had it ready in the crate to load into my truck. Very friendly service and they even gave me a tour of there facility. When I got it to my shop and began assembly I had heard it was a little challenging to set it up, but that was not the case. It went together very easily and I did it without a helper. I had purchased 2 blades from another source prior to getting the saw, both were Laguna blades, the 3/4" resaw blade and a 1/4" blade. I made several cuts with both over the next few weeks. the performance was outstanding while resawing a 12" piece of hard maple and even an 8" piece of purple heart the saw never bogged in the least. Since then I have put many hours and have enjoyed them all. another note is that I used my own casters for the base instead of buying there premade mobile assembly, I had to drill a few holes in the bottom to fit them but it worked perfectly, I just have to bend over to unlock the casters. This is my first big bandsaw and am very happy i went this route.
