Was working on a small vase and had no tool suitable for hollowing the bottom end. After looking at a number of options I decided to get this set. It worked very well and enabled me to complete the project quickly. My review is based on turning this one project. The tools are well made with a well thought out design but I would say they are small tools but not mini size (if that is what the name is meant to imply). I have mini tools and they tend to be much smaller. First tool I have owned with a carbide cutter and it worked very efficiently. I have larger but similar tools with HSS cutters and this tool worked at least as well. I would buy again.

I will say there is a learning curve, albeit slight. Because these are so easy to use. Once you hit the comfort level wow! I have been using them on small Christmas Ornaments to hollow them out. Currently testing on hollow vessel about 4 inches deep and the control is fantastic. With the straight cutter you can reverse the lathe and turn on opposite site which is better on the neck.

I am very happy with the tools. I’m new to hollowing so it took a few practice pieces to learn how to use them. Other brands of tools have flats on the shaft of the tool, Hope has a flat on the handle that allows you to judge the angle of the cutter. I would certainly recommend these tools for hollowing small turnings.
