I was searching for a long while and finding frustration. I was fortunate to find Black Forest Wood Company and confirmed on line and by phone that they had the Burrs I was seeking. My phone help was superb... like talking to a nice neighbour. Additional follow up was needed for my order and the patient crew handled the order without hesitation. I am sincerely grateful for their time and efforts... AND I am more than willing to pay for the burrs from a Canadian Supplier... even though they are American, I still want to give the end business to a Canadian. As for the Burrs.. I have been using Kutzall Burrs for over 20 years and have heavily used them on hard, dirty and oddly grained wood with consistent results and have adapted techniques of securing and holding my pieces to compliment the burr profiles along with the pull force from the grinding and safety to enable no impacts to eyes, lungs, ears, fingers. If I could improve Kutzall, I would make the shafts longer (100 to 150mm) using strong rigid steel and tapering the steel shaft at the neck of the burr to enable clearance for deep cuts and tight situations and visual site lines for the carver. Watching the Kutzall videos online.. I must say, they need to enforce and self assess much stronger health and safety for their demo users... safety glasses, gloves, face shields, masks for dust, hold down systems made and tested like mine that they can show..., I rarely see any of this.. My biggest concern from is their use of a leaf blower to clean dust off of a person.. especially the face "eye impacts" even more so with toxic exotic woods. This blower mistake has been observed several times. They should also mention having and emergency eye wash system at hand at their demos and advertising... I have one in my shop, its only natural and smart. Smiles and Thanks Francesco

Precision skip scroll saw blades.I have been buying blades frrom Black Forest seems like from the begining of time.(over 25 years).I find skip tooth fits what I am cutting these days, tight corners,small areas.

The S2S 4/4 maple that I received was very nicely milled. Cleaning it up to S4S was very straightforward. There was no checking and just a small amount of wane on one board. There was a very nice figure on three of the four foot boards, not so typical of maple.

Ordered 2 large live edge slabs of 8/4 cherry. I was originally told the slabs were too big to be shipped in the stores regular packaging and would have to cut or I might be charged more for shipping. Well after speaking with Tim Knoke he was able to have my slabs shipped as is with no extra charge. Extremely pleased with the slabs and other items I purchased. Will definitely be purchasing more items in the future. Thanks

Cuts very smooth and roughs out amazingly

Ideal for my purpose.droplet pensants with carious centers. Cuts easily,holds easily,little to no warping,sands and oils nicely.
myvonly gripe is all z3 boards I bought recently were 35" long snd as I cut into 3" pieces I had 2" waste.

Black Forest was awesome in providing information on the stain that I was putting on my front door. They are very helpful and very courteous I would buy from them again. They’re just wonderful people to work with.

I just received 10 four-foot by 6-inch 4/4 boards from Black Forest and 3 shorter 8/4. All of them are really excellent; no sapwood and only one or two significant knots in the entire batch. Beautiful grain also.

Great for what I needed. Making maple leaf pendants. colour is perfect after soaking in Danish oil.

Only glue I use!
