Did some resawing after I had installed the blade and was completely amazed at how smooth the cut surface was. Required only mild sanding. Results in much more efficient use of material when making shop sawn veneers.
Great pen , solid and feels nice to hold
Unfortunately, my first go at using this product didn’t turn out right. I watched the tutorial video a few times before going at it. I used it on top of osmos polyx oil, a finish I have been using on most projects. Applied two coats of the Diamond finish but when I took a step back to look in the light, there was a very clear inconsistency in the form of obvious straight lines across the grain where it had more sheen on one side and less on the other. I attempted to even it out with a third base coat but it didn’t work to blend it. I don’t know what I did wrong but seems like it could have been user error. I definitely worked about as quickly as you could go and I had the 2x2’ square edges marked with painters table on the table edge so I’m confident I didn’t miss a spot. Unfortunately will have to sand it off and start over. Hopefully it goes better on the next attempt. The finish looks great except for the fact you can see this straight lines across the table. I haven’t applied the top coat since I will likely be sanding down and restarting. Bummer. Blackforest: if you guys have seen this before and know what I did wrong, it would be great if you could let me know before I go for my second attempt.
The cherry was nice and straight and very nice grain. I am very pleased with the quality of lumber I get from Black Forest
Although black palm is challenging to turn, the grain of the finished product is beautiful.
Extremely happy with this wood. I love the grain and colour variation. Black Forest did an awesome job of cutting. Thanks guys
Extra thin penetrates deep into the wood and provides excellent base for osmo oil finish product.
This handle is a great addition to my turning tools.
This workshop was so much fun! The class was suitable for anyone from complete beginner (like me) to established woodworkers. Dylan was a fantastic instructor - very knowledgeable and has a great eye to ensure you end up taking home a table that you truly love. My coffee table is now my favourite piece of furniture in my home. Well worth the cost of the workshop! Thanks again! :)
Been a great tool with the rolled edge, eliminates the muscle memory to balance the skew on a flat edge - been a game changer for me - minimizing catches and increases ease of use
Very pleased, 180 grit is perfect for woodturning.
Hope negative rake scrapers do an amazing job. Worth every penny.
Excellent, the coating just looks like glass.
I’ve received my 3’rd order now and the quality of product has been excellent and the prices are also very competitive. Very pleased with Black walnut s4s and Maple, Rosewood Santos, Bloodwood thins. I would recommend using them for your wood projects.
Black Forest had close to my colour in General Finishes. 325 ml for $32. I bought one can. Later that day, I bought exactly the colour that I needed on a clearance of Varathane Gel Stain from another retailer for $22 for 1000 ml. Quality of each is the same.
